Championship Final - Match Report
With our thanks to Maggie here is a detailed report of this years exciting Final :-
Rachel won the 1st but Kate levelled at the 2nd. Kate then went one ahead at the fourth. Rachel won the 6th but Kate again went one ahead at the 7th with a birdie 3. At the eighth Rachel’s drive found the trees but she managed to save par and win the hole when Kate bogeyed. The match was all-square at the turn.
At the eleventh Rachel won with a birdie 2 to go one up. She remained so until the 14th when she went another one ahead however Kate immediately fought back by winning the 15th. The 16th and 17th were halved.
With Rachel one up, Kate’s drive found the trees and she had a difficult approach shot which nearly reached the green. However with Rachel close in two, Kate eventually conceded the hole and Rachel won the match by 2 holes.
Congratulations to both girls on an exciting, final which was a pleasure to watch
Maggie

Rachel Hanlon survives a closely contested final to become the new East Girls' Champion
Rachel Hanlon ( St Regulus ) took the title of the East of Scotland Girls' Champion today at Kingsknowe Golf Club, Edinburgh after beating Kate McIntosh (Broomieknowe) in a very close final. On a day that once again was threatened with heavy rain and thunder storms the girls produced some excellent golf.
The first of the morning semi - final matches saw Rachel sink a good number of birdie putts to beat Alison Goodwin (Glenbervie) by 6/4. Kate in the other semi-final match was up against Gabrielle Macdonald(Craigielaw) who has been in very good form recently. Kate found herself 4 up with 4 holes to play , however Gabrielle had a good fight back winning the 15th and 16th however could not keep that up and Kate took the match on the 17th.
A full match report of the final, with photos, will follow shortly.
In the meantime our sincere thanks must go to Kingsknowe Golf Club for their very kind hospitality and allowing us courtesy of the course to play both the Summer Meeting and Championship. Thanks also must go to the Kingsknowe Lady members who volunteered their help and to Liz Jones whose help for most of the day was greatly appreciated.
